COVID-19 Patients Face Stigma

Coronavirus patients and even those who have recovered from the highly infectious disease increasingly face stigma as people avoid them. Cases have been reported where even their families refuse to help them at all in order to avoid getting infected. A doctor in Mumbai said a pregnant woman was abandoned by her family and turned away by a hospital after she was found infected with coronavirus. Later, after she recovered, her family came and accepted her back. She also gave birth to a healthy child who was not infected with COVID-19.
