Covid India: Active Cases Cross 1000, Over 100 Active Cases In Delhi

In today's episode of India Global, India has crossed the 1,000 mark in active COVID-19 cases, with Kerala leading the tally at 430 and Delhi reporting 104, including 99 new cases this past week. While the rise has drawn attention, health officials are urging calm. Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta says there is “no cause for alarm.” Hospitals, she adds, are fully equipped, and advisories are in place to manage any increase in cases. Meanwhile, INSA-COG, India’s virus tracking network, has identified new subvariants: NB.1.8.1 in Tamil Nadu and LF.7 in Gujarat. Both are under monitoring but not variants of concern. JN.1 remains dominant in India. Furthermore, hospitals in the national capital have been advised to stay alert, ensuring equipment is functional, staff is trained, and protocols are followed. Masks remain mandatory inside hospital premises. As India adapts to a new phase of COVID-19 management, health officials are watching closely, acting early, and reminding the public: awareness, not anxiety, is the way forward.
