Six Years On, PM SVANidhi Emerges As Lifeline For Street Vendors
Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to support vulnerable street vendors, the PM SVANidhi scheme has grown into one of India's largest financial inclusion initiatives. Extended until 2030, the programme has benefited more than 75 lakh street vendors through over 1.12 crore collateral-free loans worth ₹17,000 crore. Nearly 46% of beneficiaries are women, highlighting the scheme's role in empowering female entrepreneurs.
