Communal Harmony On Display As Tension Brews Over Hilltop Rituals In Madurai
Around 50 people, mostly BJP workers, were detained in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai after attempting to trek Thiruparankundram Hill to light a lamp near Sikander Durga, with police citing law and order concerns ahead of a major Sufi festival. While tensions lingered nearby, the festival itself showcased communal harmony, with Hindus and Muslims participating together in rituals and a chariot procession led by a bull owned by a Hindu family.
