Amid fierce protests the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is passed in the lok sabha with 311 in favour and 80 against. The Shiv Sena tells NDTV that it supported the bill because of the interest of the nation and that CMP applies to Maharashtra state only. Despite assurances from the home minster, a complete shut down has been called in the north east today by the powerful students organization. And the Jaipur theaters have stopped the screening of "Panipat" until further orders after its release prompts protests by Jat groups.
