N Biren Singh, who left the Congress last year after a falling out with Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, is set to be his successor. The BJP today named the 56-year-old as its chief ministerial candidate. But the political uncertainty seemed far from over as Okram Ibobi Singh, who maintains the Congress too has numbers to form a government following an inconclusive election verdict on Saturday, is yet to resign from his post. Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla said she can only invite a party to form the government once he does.
