Former poll strategist Prashant Kishor has made a dramatic electoral debut by winning the Bankipur Assembly bypoll, ending the BJP's three-decade dominance in the constituency. Kishor defeated BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar by 19,324 votes after the seat was vacated by BJP state president Nitin Nabin. The result marks Jan Suraaj's first Assembly victory and is being seen as a major political milestone, signalling the emergence of a new force in Bihar politics while dealing the BJP its first electoral setback since Samrat Choudhary assumed office.
