West Bengal Bypolls: Nandigram, Rejinagar Results Put BJP To First Test Since Power Shift

Counting is underway in West Bengal’s Nandigram and Rejinagar Assembly bypolls, marking the BJP’s first electoral test since it came to power in May 2026. The results are unlikely to affect the government’s majority, with the BJP having won 207 of 294 Assembly seats. Turnout stood at 80.89% in Nandigram and 80.08% in Rejinagar. While opposition parties alleged intimidation and polling irregularities, the BJP rejected the charges. The verdict will offer clues about the state’s changing political landscape.
