In 2016 when, when the BJP won the election in Assam for the first time, its campaign centered around three Assamese words: "jati, maati and bheti", or, community, land and base. The party had succeeded to fill the gap of a strong political force, talking about protection of the indigenous communities. In the 2021 assembly election, the party looks at mainstreaming Assam politics. Its campaign theme this year is "sauraksha, samriddhi and sanskriti", or, security, prosperity and culture, of the indigenous people. BJP national vice president Baijayant J Panda explained what this means.
