Women Killed In Mumbai Building Collapse

An elderly woman was killed after a portion of a five-storey residential building collapsed in south Mumbai on Wednesday morning, a civic official said. Six others were rescued from the site.

Women corporators of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) came to blows during the general body proceedings at the BMC headquaretrs in south Mumbai. The incident took place during a special session to dicuss building collapses in the city which have killed over 15 people this monsoon.

The building at the Gautam Compound Navi Basti reportedly housed nearly a hundred families. Many others were feared trapped in the debris after it collapsed last night, police said.
