Fifteen newborn babies have died in the state-run North Bengal Medical College and Hospital at Siliguri in the district since Monday, hospital superintendent Dr Amerendra Nath Sarker said on Tuesday.

Infant deaths continue in West Bengal; govt in denial?

There seems to be no end in sight to the horror of infant deaths in West Bengal. From Malda, which recently witnessed the shocking death of 15 babies within 48 hours at a government hospital, the focus has now shifted to Murshidabad. 10 newborns have died in the last two days in a state-run hospital in Behrampore in the district.

More infant deaths in Bengal's Malda hospital, toll now 20

Four more infants have died in the last 24 hours at the Malda Medical College in West Bengal, taking the number of infant deaths there to 20 in less than a week. The four deaths come just after an observer team of the state health department inspected the hospital.
