Up Forms Committee Farmers

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday ordered the formation of a committee to look into the issues of Gautam Buddh Nagar farmers protesting against the local Noida and Greater Noida authorities, officials said.

Bhartiya Kisan Union president Bhupinder Singh Mann has recused himself from the Supreme Court-appointed committee on farm laws, saying he did not wish to "compromise farmers' interests". Mr Mann was one of the four members of the committee formed on Tuesday.

The BJP's Sushil Modi had an unusual tribute for the party's late leader and former Union minister Arun Jaitley on his birth anniversary. The farmers' protest would not have continued for so long had Arun Jaitley been alive, Sushil Modi said in what appeared to double up as criticism of his colleagues in the party.
