In its order on Wednesday introducing the concept of Virtual Aadhaar ID to ensure that people are not forced to give their Aadhaar number, the UIDAI has also packed in a strong safeguard that will bar government and private agencies from getting access to information about individuals in the Aadhaar database that they can do without.
