High Court Asks JNU To Respond On Plea Against New Admission Policy

The Delhi High Court yesterday ordered Jawaharlal Nehru University to respond to a petition challenging a single judge's order which dismissed student's plea against the university's new admission policy for the academic year 2017-18 based on a 2016 UGC regulation.

JNU's stand of giving weightage to written and oral exams in the ratio of 80:20 for admissions in M.Phil and PhD courses was today termed as "illegal" by its own lawyer in the Delhi High Court, who claimed the decision was taken "under pressure" from agitating students.

JNU Releases UGC Clarification And New Admission Policy For M.Phil. And PhD

Jawaharlal Nehru University, on February 11, released a notification clearing its stance on M.Phil. and PhD admission. The University said that the number of seats for each M.Phil. and PhD course offered at the university will be calculated on the basis of 2016 UGC gazette notification.
