Egypt put the restored gold mask of Tutankhamun back on display Wednesday after German experts removed glue applied in a botched repair when the priceless artifact's beard fell off.

Epoxy used to glue a blue and gold braided beard back on to the burial mask of Egypt's famed King Tutankhamun can be removed and the mask properly restored, a German expert summoned to Cairo to examine it said on Saturday.

The blue and gold braided beard on the burial mask of famed pharaoh Tutankhamun was hastily glued back on with epoxy, damaging the relic after it was knocked during cleaning, conservators at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo said on Wednesday.
