An assistant executive engineer of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board in Coonoor near Udhagamandalam was sentenced to one year imprisonment on Wednesday by a court for taking a bribe of Rs 1,000 in 2003.

The controversial Kudankulam nuclear plant, which has witnessed widespread protests and several delays, is now a step closer towards generating power.
