Top police brass of five eastern states - Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Odisha - on Wednesday proposed a slew of measures to enhance coordination among them to tackle Naxalism and crime in the region, a top official said.

New Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel Sunday said weapons were no answer to tackling the Maoist menace and favoured talks with violence affected people and other stakeholders, even as he ruled out withdrawal of security forces from the Maoist-hit areas of the state.

Music and art play a significant role in putting across message to the people. Putting these words to test, the Chhattisgarh police recently launched a music album to encourage Maoists to give up arms.
