The World Bank has approved a near Rs 10,000 crore (USD 1.5 billion) loan for the ambitious clean India campaign to support the government in its efforts to ensure all citizens in rural areas have access to improved sanitation and end the practice of open defecation by 2019.

Littering, Spitting Cases Decrease in Railway Suburbs This Fiscal

In what might be called as a positive impact of the 'Swachh Bharat' mission, littering and spitting cases have come down considerably in suburban sections of the Central Railway (CR) here during the first four months of this fiscal as compared to the corresponding period in the previous year, according to a senior railway official.
