A BJP member today alleged in Lok Sabha that the Supreme Court has "encroached" on the powers of Parliament by striking down a law for appointment of judges and wanted Parliament to "stand up" to it by passing a resolution.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said the Supreme Court's judgment which struck down the National Judicial Appointments Commission for higher judiciary was based on an "erroneous logic". He said "democracy can't be the tyranny of the unelected".
