As airline ticket prices often see a surge in price hikes during the festive season, the Centre has stepped in saying it is "keeping an eye" on the situation.

SpiceJet said late on Friday that all its systems at airports, ticket bookings and call centres are up and running smoothly after a "successful resolution" of a Microsoft outage that impacted the aviation industry all through the day.

A trainee ticketing agent of British Airways has been arrested for a hoax bomb call to SpiceJet flight yesterday. After receving the call yesterday, the airlines had halted the departure and conducted a thorough search.

Aviation regulator DGCA has asked SpiceJet to stop its five-day discounted sale of tickets that started on Monday as the government-imposed fare limits are in place since domestic flights resumed operation on May 25, senior officials said.

With the central government extending the lockdown to May 3 and subsequently the suspension of all commercial passenger services also till then, domestic airlines have again decided not to refund the customers in cash for their cancelled flights and instead offer them rescheduling of tickets for a later date without any additional fee.

Airline share prices tumbled on Thursday after the government moved to restrict travel into the country in an effort to stem the spread of coronavirus, prompting massive ticket discounting in an already slumping air travel market.

Investigators with India's antitrust watchdog have found no evidence that the country's biggest airline, IndiGo, and four rival carriers colluded to fix ticket prices, three sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

Bookings are open on airline's official website- spicejet.com, mobile app and through online travel portals and travel agents, it said.

On bookings made through its portal, SpiceJet is offering a 25 per cent off on meals, seats and premium service SpiceMax.

Many airlines have announced additional flights and promotional schemes over the past few weeks.

Under SpiceJet's offer, which is valid for travel till September 25, 2019, flight tickets can be booked till August 10, the airline said.

SpiceJet and GoAir have announced flights on new routes and discounts on bookings. The announcements from the airlines come at a time when the suspension of flights by Jet Airways has led to additional demand in the country's civil aviation market.
