The Congress appears to made a beginning in solving the leadership tangle in Rajasthan that hamstrung its campaign.

Months before elections in Rajasthan, the fragile truce in the state's ruling Congress threatens to unravel with a minister accusing senior party leader Sachin Pilot of organizing a shoe attack on him at a rally.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi has accepted one of former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot's main demands of removing Avinash Pande, the general secretary in charge of the state. The move had been a critical for Mr Pilot ending a weeks-long revolt that pushed the state government to the brink.

The Congress today revoked the suspension of Bhanwarlal Sharma and Vishvendra Singh, two MLAs who had rebelled against the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan.

Sachin Pilot was greeted with a handshake by Ashok Gehlot at a meeting of Congress MLAs at the Rajasthan Chief Minister's home, his first after his reconciliation with the party leadership and "homecoming" after a month-long revolt. The Chief Minister had posted on Twitter this morning that he was all for "forget and forgive" and moving on.

Vasundhara Raje and other top Rajasthan BJP leaders are meeting today to plan for the special session of the state assembly from tomorrow. This is the first meeting of BJP MLAs since the Congress rebel crisis broke out early July, pushing the Ashok Gehlot government to the verge of collapse until Sachin Pilot ended his rebellion on Monday.

Ashok Gehlot, who met with Congress MLAs staying at a hotel in Jaisalmer last evening, today said they were "naturally upset" after the truce but everyone has to move on. "Forget and forgive, and move on," the Chief Minister declared.
