Qatar's defence minister ruled out Wednesday the possibility of a war between the United States and Iran amid rising tensions in the Gulf following attacks on oil tankers.

Qatar's defence minister said on Tuesday that his country's long-term strategic "ambition" is to join the Western military defence alliance NATO.

Turkey's defence minister said on Friday his country had no plans to review its military base in Qatar and that any demand for its closure would represent interference in Ankara's relations with the Gulf state.
