Protests In Kerela

A number of shops and hotels here downed shutters today protesting Kerala's stand on the Mullaperiyar dam issue. The usually bustling tourist town wore a deserted look with cars not plying and bakeries and other business establishments remaining closed.

Tension mounted along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border down south for the third consecutive day on Monday with an estimated 20,000 villagers spontaneously marching towards the Mullaiperiyar dam breaching police barricades.
