Amid reports of steep rates being charged for providing ambulance services to Covid patients, Delhi Chief Minister announced today that his government is capping maximum prices that private ambulance services can levy.

The association of ambulance employees in Uttar Pradesh threatened to stop work from Tuesday afternoon over non-payment of salaries for two months and lack of protective gear for them despite being on the front-line in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

Private hospitals and clinics in Karnataka have today suspended their OPD services to protest the state government's plan to regulate their fee and service charges. Emergency and ambulance services, however, will not be affected.
