Maharashtra Government Scraps 70:30 Admission Norm In Medical Courses

The Maharashtra government on Tuesday scrapped the 70:30 region-wise formula for admission in medical courses in the state. The formula implied reservation for 70 per cent locals (from that region) in medical colleges and 30 per cent from rest of the state.

A group of students in Maharashtra has threatened to launch an agitation over the Bombay High Court's ruling that the 16 per cent quota offered to Marathas will not be applicable on admissions to post-graduate medical courses this year.

Medical Colleges To Have PG Courses From Academic Year 2020-21

All existing medical colleges will have to start P-G courses from academic year 2020-21, according to amendments made to the Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000, of the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Health Ministry Nod To Amend Rules For Candidates With Disabilities In PG Medical Courses

The percentage of seats to be filled by persons with disabilities has been increased from 3 to 5 per cent in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
