A matrimonial dispute cannot be the reason to revoke a person's passport without giving him any hearing, the Delhi High Court has said.

The Ministry of External Affairs revoked the passport of diamantaire Nirav Modi, the main accused in the USD 2-billion PNB fraud case, and it has no means to verify his travels, if any, the government told the Lok Sabha Wednesday.

The government has cancelled passports of 33 non-resident Indians or NRIs for abandoning their wives, the Women and Child Development Ministry said Wednesday.
