Heavy rains lashed various parts of Kerala, after India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued a red alert for eight districts of the state--Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

Monsoon 2020: Kerala is witnessing heavy rainfall today. Several parts of Kochi, especially the low lying areas, were inundated. A 'Red' alert has been sounded for Idukki district by the weather office while an 'Orange' alert has been issued for Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad for today.

Heavy rain today lashed Kerala causing widspread damage, landslip and waterlogging in various parts. With the South West monsoon active over the state, incessant rains triggered landslip in the tribal hamlet of Attappady and adjacent areas in Palakkad district this morning but no one was injured, officials said.
