Netflix Inc on Wednesday laid out plans to crackdown on password sharing for accounts on its streaming platform, including setting up primary location and paying a couple of dollars for an extra member.

The centre informed the Supreme Court on Tuesday that the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 put in place an institutional mechanism for adherence of Digital Media Ethics Code by the OTT platforms.

Government rules on social media and OTT (Over The Top) platforms "have no teeth" and thus no power for prosecution, said the Supreme Court as it granted relief from arrest to Amazon Prime Video's India head Aparna Purohit in the ongoing investigation against the web series 'Tandav'.
