Architects on Tuesday unveiled designs for a new elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, filled with sunlight, connections to nature - and new security measures - to replace the building where a gunman killed 26 people, mostly young children, in 2012, one of the worst such attacks in U.S. history.

The Sandy Hook section of Newtown was a gathering place this weekend for hundreds of people drawn to the scene of the recent massacre to share in the community's mourning and come to terms with the shocking school tragedy.
