Migrants Accident Madhya Pradesh

Six migrant labourers, including three women, were killed and 19 were injured when a truck they were travelling in overturned in Madhya Pradesh this morning near the Sagar-Chhatarpur border, hours after the collision of two trucks in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya district killed 24 migrants.

Fourteen migrant labourers were killed and nearly 60 injured in two road accidents on Thursday while they were on the way to their homes in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, police said.

Eight migrant labourers died and over 54 suffered injuries after the truck they were travelling in was hit by a speeding bus in Madhya Pradesh's Guna earlythis morning. The truck with around 70 labourers was on its way to Uttar Pradesh from Maharashtra, when it had a head-on collision with a bus on a bypass road in Guna at around 3 am, police said.

They had started their journey on foot from Maharashtra hoping to reach Madhya Pradesh, but it was their bodies that reached their home districts of Shahdol and Umaria by special trains on Saturday afternoon.

The deaths of 16 migrant workers from Madhya Pradesh, who were crushed by a train in Maharashtra's Aurangabad on Friday, has raised serious questions about the coordination between the governments of the two neighbouring states.

The Railways has ordered a comprehensive probe into the Aurangabad accident in which 16 migrants workers who were sleeping on the tracks were run over by a goods train early on Friday morning. They were returning to Madhya Pradesh amid the novel coronavirus-induced lockdown.
