Man Marries Without Divorce

A 34-year-old man was arrested in Bhubaneswar on the charge of marrying five women without divorcing anyone and duping them of lakhs of rupees posing himself as a police officer, an official said on Saturday.

The Punjab and Haryana High court has held that a man living a "lustful and adulterous life" with a woman without divorcing his spouse cannot be called a "live-in-relationship" or "relationship" in the nature of marriage.

The police Friday arrested a middle-aged man, who is a teacher in a government high school, for allegedly marrying four women on different occasions without being legally separated from his earlier wives, police said.
