Madurai Encounter

The Madras High Court today encountered a bizarre petition by a 57-year-old-man from Madurai who sought anticipatory bail stating that he was among those who had repeatedly raped a minor girl in Chennai, in connection with which 17 people had already been arrested.

Two men, accused of murder, were shot dead by the Madurai Police in an encounter today.

Two suspected fundamentalists were today nabbed after a 10-hour-long joint operation by the Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh police outside their house in Puttur in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district. A cop was also critically injured in the encounter.

Another alleged gangster in Tamil Nadu has been killed in a police encounter. According to the police, the Inspector was attacked at an illegal sand quarry in Tirunelvelli district and he opened fire in self defence. This has now become a routine predictable theory.
