Madhya Pradesh Urban Local Bodies

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday secured a majority in 11 urban local bodies spread across five districts in Madhya Pradesh, while the Congress managed to get a majority in eight others, according to results.

The Madhya Pradesh urban local body elections will be held in two phases. The first is on July 6 in 11 districts and the second phase on July 13 in 38 districts. Votes will be counted on July 17 for the first phase and July 18 for the second phase.

Ahead of urban local body polls, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday claimed that Indore will surpass Bengaluru and Hyderabad in terms of development, in the next 10 years, if the BJP wins the elections.
