Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant gets clean chit over safety aspect

The four-member committee set up by Tamil Nadu Government virtually gave a clean chit to the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP), saying it was well-equipped to withstand natural calamities, be it earthquake or tsunami.

As the work at Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant remains stalled, a delegation of KNPP employees today met the Tirunelveli district authorities requesting them to take expeditious steps to break the prolonged logjam.

Jayalaltihaa has written to the Prime Minister asking that work be stopped at the Koodankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu. She has accused the centre of "abdicating" its responsibilities.
