Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) will sign a term loan agreement with Canara Bank for an amount of Rs 1,170 crore in Kochi on July 20.

The 13-km-long first phase of the Kochi Metro Rail project from Aluva to Palarivattom is expected to be completed by December 2015 and the second by March 2016, a review meeting of KMRL held here today said.

The Kochi Metro Board today decided to have three coaches in each train with a total carrying capacity of 1,000 passengers. The decision in this regard was taken at a board meeting near Kochi.

The Kochi Metro Board on Friday gave its approval to the agreement to be signed between the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) for the execution of the first phase of the Rs 5,180 crore project, the foundation stone of which was laid by Prime Minister.

A PIL seeking to entrust the work of the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the foundation stone of which will be laid by Prime Minister in Kochi on September 13, was filed on Monday in the Kerala High Court.
