In Akhilesh Yadav's Uttar Pradesh, a mob, allegedly part of the oil mafia, tried to set a government official in Badaun on fire yesterday. The district supply officer, Neeraj Singh, was raiding a ration shop to check on alleged kerosene hoarding when he was attacked.

Delhi is set to become the first kerosene-free city with the government launching a scheme on Tuesday under which 350,000 families using kerosene oil will get a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder and a cooking stove for free.
