The Central government should ponder over why India's internal matters are being discussed in the European Parliament, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said on Thursday, referring to the six resolutions against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) tabled by the Members of European Parliament.

Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid, while responding to party colleague Kapil Sibal's remark on Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA, has said that "If something is on the statute book, you have to obey law, else there are consequences".

Days after Kerala moved the Supreme Court against the Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA amid nationwide protests, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal, who was in Kozhikode on Saturday, said it would be "difficult for any state government to say that 'I will not follow a law passed by the parliament'".
