Rejecting the Gujarat government's plea, the Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered that the final report of the Justice H S Bedi Committee on 24 alleged fake encounter cases from 2002 to 2006 in the state be given to parties of the petition.

As questions are being raised on whether the prosecution concealed certain "mitigating factors" that might have led to a lighter sentence for Yakub Memon, Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam has denied any knowledge of what transpired between him and the intelligence agencies when he was arrested in 1994.
