Veteran comic actor Jim Carrey was sued Monday for allegedly procuring drugs under a bogus name for his ex-girlfriend, who died of an overdose last year, and then trying to hide his involvement.

Jim Carrey, who had been dating Cathriona White on-and-off since 2012, said in a statement: "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her"
