Marty Balin, co-founder of the 1960s California psychedelic rock group Jefferson Airplane, has died aged 76, US media reported on Friday.

Dan Hicks was known as the leader of the acoustic band Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks, which was a contemporary of the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane in the late 1960s San Francisco psychedelic scene. At his commercial peak, Mr Hicks recorded several successful albums for Blue Thumb Records

Paul Kantner, the co-founder of Jefferson Airplane whose psychedelic sound and free-spirited mindset helped define 1960s counterculture, died on Thursday aged 74, media in his native San Francisco said.

Mr Kantner, who was famous for his advocacy and use of drugs, died of multiple organ failure following a heart attack, the San Francisco Chronicle quoted his longtime publicist and friend Cynthia Bowman as saying
