J Jayalalithaa, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, is at her Poes Garden residence in Chennai, where hundreds of supporters are now celebrating with news coming in of her acquittal by the Karnataka High Court in a conviction in a corruption case.

Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal on Thursday suspended all lawmakers of the state's main opposition party from the rest of the ongoing Assembly session, after one of them made an allegedly disparaging remark about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, in relation to the result of the disproprtionate assets case against her.
