Jaitley On Censor Board

Amid a raging row over 'Udta Punjab', Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley has said that movie certification norms have to be liberal and "some very radical changes" will be announced over the next few days.

With his film Udta Punjab at the centre of a raging debate on censorship, producer Anurag Kashyap said he had tweeted the Prime Minister in a "cry of desperation," also asking why union ministers Arun Jaitley and Rajyavardhan Rathore have not responded to his SOS.

Objecting to alleged "derogatory" remarks against nurses on a popular TV comedy show, All India Government Nurses' Federation (AIGNF) today demanded that I&B Minister Arun Jaitley direct the Censor board to ensure such instances are not repeated and sought apology from those who made it.

The committee headed by eminent filmmaker Shyam Benegal to look into the revamp of the censor board met Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley in Mumbai today. The government had set up the committee on January 1.
