Apollo Hospitals has denied a British media report claiming the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in Delhi is at the centre of an international "cash for kidneys" racket that sees poor people from Myanmar sell their organs for Rs 80-90 lakh each.

Police have busted a kidney racket gang in South Delhi and arrested 10 persons from various parts of the city.

Over a dozen leading private surgeons, including top urologists of Delhi are under the scanner of Uttar Pradesh Police in connection with a sensational international kidney transplant racket, spreading across Turkey and the Middle East countries.

An international kidney racket was busted with the arrest of three people who allegedly lured a 33-year-old man from Hyderabad and got his kidney removed in Turkey after promising to pay Rs 20 lakh, police said on Monday.

Delhi Police have traced at least three recipients and five donors in connection with the international kidney racket linked to Apollo Hospitals in Delhi, even as the investigators sought legal opinion regarding slapping charges on them.

A hotel management student in Hyderabad reportedly first sold his kidney and later, lured 15 others into illegal organ trade to support a lavish lifestyle. With the arrest of the student, 22-year-old Kasparaju Suresh, the Nalgonda police in Telangana say they have busted an international kidney selling racket run from Colombo.
