Indian Navy has issued direction to ban the use of all smartphones and social networking platforms onboard ships and naval bases.

The Indian Navy has barred its personnel from using smartphones and social media at its installations after it busted an espionage racket this month involving sailors, sources said on Monday.

Andhra Pradesh police on Friday claimed to have busted an espionage racket with links to Pakistan and said seven Indian Navy personnel and a hawala operator have been arrested in this case.

The personal assistant of Samajwadi Party lawmaker has been arrested in connection with the espionage racket in which a Pakistan High Commission staffer was detained and expelled from the country and three others were arrested earlier this week.

Pakistan espionage ring accused Shoaib was arrested today after being brought from Jodhpur, with police claiming that he was in touch with the expelled Pakistan High Commission staffer for the last three-four years and had visited the neighbouring country six times.

A Pakistan High Commission officer has been asked to leave India over alleged espionage. He was caught by the police on Wednesday at the Delhi zoo, with two men who allegedly leaked to him sensitive information on the deployment of forces at the border.

A serving army personnel was today arrested by Delhi Police from Siliguri in West Bengal in connection with the ISI-linked espionage racket, taking to five the number of people taken into custody in the case.

Two Jammu and Kashmir-based army jawans, who frequently communicated with arrested ISI operative Kafaitullah Khan, are under the scanner of the Delhi Police in the espionage case and a team is being rushed to the state to carry forward the probe.

Two espionage rackets were busted today with arrests of five persons from Jammu and Kolkata. One of the men caught is suspected to be a handler from Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, the other a personnel of the Border Security Force, police said. But it is yet to be discovered if the two networks are connected.
