Draft Cryptocurrency Regulation Bill

A key House Republican lawmaker said Tuesday that he intends to hold a committee vote on a comprehensive bill to establish a regulatory framework for cryptocurrency products in the coming weeks. He said he expects to put a bill forward for the panel to consider after lawmakers return to work on July 11.

Issuers of so-called "stablecoins," virtual currencies whose value is pegged to traditional currencies, would face bank-like regulation and oversight under a draft bill from senior U.S. House lawmakers, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Crypto-related platforms will soon come under regulatory framework in Brazil. Rodrigo Pacheco, the president of the Senate in Brazil may put the bill for a plenary vote in April. Once passed, the crypto firms will have to take official permissions to operate in the country.
