Dengue Fumigation

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi has armed itself with 40 fumigation machines to arrest the spread of the mosquito-borne disease, dengue, which has already claimed over 25 lives in the national capital.

Saying that some of the dengue deaths in the city were "preventable", many citizens across the city are demanding that fumigation exercise be stepped up by civic bodies even as Delhi continues to battle against the scourge of the vector-borne disease.

In Mumbai, 14 people have died from Dengue this year and nearly 650 cases have been reported in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) run hospitals alone. Although it has not been declared an epidemic yet, public health experts say the huge spurt in the number of cases is worrisome.
