Delhiites woke up to a cold and foggy morning as the minimum temperature in the national capital on Thursday dipped to 4.8 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average, the weather department said.

The weather department has issued an "orange alert" for dense fog on Saturday in the national capital and adjoining areas, officials on Friday said.

Delhi today recorded the coldest morning of this season with temperature dippingto 3.9 degrees Celsius. Theroad, rail and air traffic were affected also due to dense fog.

The IMD on Sunday issued a fog warning for the next five days for many north Indian states. Dense to very dense fog is very likely in many pockets of Punjab and in a few pockets over Haryana and Chandigarh in the next 24 hours.
