Chikungunya cases are still on the rise in the national capital as at least 2,000 blood test samples have tested positive for chikungunya at AIIMS only, where doctors are also studying the viral strain that is in circulation.

Chikungunya and dengue continued to wreak havoc in Delhi with the number of deaths from the two vector-borne diseases climbing to 30 today even as the number of affected people crossed 2,800.

The death toll due to dengue in the national capital mounted to 14 as AIIMS on Wednesday confirmed the five cases of fatalities due to the vector-borne disease which has also affected over 1,150 people this season.

The Delhi government has decided to start testing facility for the vector-borne disease at all its mohalla clinics from next month in the national capital where 171 cases have been reported.

The Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM) has urged the Delhi government to issue an advisory clarifying Dengue ELISA is not required to start treatment of the vector-borne disease or for getting admitted to hospitals.
