Seventeen people have died in West Bengal's Darjeeling after heavy rain triggered landslides and cut off road connectivity on key routes. Officials have said the calamity has cut off connectivity to the Himalayan state of Sikkim.

A fresh landslip was today reported at Gayabari, 56 km from Darjeeling today, cutting off the road link between Darjeeling and Mirik which alone had accounted for 21 deaths in yesterday's landslides, an official of West Bengal's Disaster Management Department said.
