China on Tuesday said it would impose reciprocal measures against unnamed American officials and their family members who were behind a legislation passed by the US Congress on Tibet, asserting that it brooks no interference in its internal affairs.

The US House of Representatives in an unanimous resolution has called on China to start unconditional talks with representatives of the Dalai Lama to address the grievances of the Tibetan people.

A Tibetan father-of-four set himself on fire in protest at China's rule over the Himalayan region, overseas media and rights groups said, adding it was unclear whether he survived.
